Simple and respectful
We record basic home details, take approximate measurements and document accessible energy-related features. No equipment installation is needed.
We measure approximate square footage and ceiling height, and record the home’s insulation and other building features.
We photograph equipment labels and accessible insulation, and record details about the water heater, furnace, AC, dryer, stove and oven.
Plan for approximately 25-30 minutes with clear access. Larger homes or hard-to-reach areas can take longer.
Personal belongings and private living details are not intentionally photographed.
Before we arrive
Please make these areas easy to reach. Only the items present in your home apply.
Attic access
Clear boxes or furniture from beneath the attic hatch or pull-down stairs, if present.
Crawlspace access
Clear the path to the crawlspace opening, inside or outside, if your home has one.
Water heater & furnace
Keep a clear walkway to the equipment and its labels, including garage or utility closets.
Air conditioner or heat pump
Provide access to the outdoor unit and unlock any gate needed to reach it.
Dryer, stove & oven
Keep the area around these appliances accessible. Leave all appliances in place.
Have an adult available to let us in and keep pets away from work areas. Move only light, easy-to-handle items. Please do not climb into the attic, enter the crawlspace, move heavy furniture, or disconnect equipment. Let the assessor know on arrival if an area is blocked or unsafe.
